Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitions with thee bring;
I counted the meter, and then reached for my ever-ready hymnal, turned to the dog-eared indices, and looked up each hymn that fit the meter, reading each stanza until I found those words.
The hymn, "Come, My Soul, Thy Suit Prepare," quickly became a favorite! (Devotional thoughts are here, along with links to Cyber Hymnal, where you can hear the melody and read the stanzas.)
A few weeks ago in prayer meeting, our pastor strongly encouraged us to keep praying and to pray boldly, and immediately I longed to sing:
Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitions with thee bring;
For His grace and power are such,
None can ever ask too much.
