Garbage diet

Our town has been on a garbage diet for over a year, with signs and slogans and informational leaflets and competitions.

Last winter the garbage at each collection spot was weighed and the various neighborhood associations were in a competition.

This winter each household has been given a 6-week weight-tracking chart. That would be a garbage weight tracking chart, along with instructions of how to weigh it using your bathroom scales. Prizes will be awarded to those who turn in a chart with at least two weeks recorded.

Last winter the data showed that each person in our town produced an average of 484 grams of garbage per day (not counting recyclables). The goal is to reduce it by 100 grams per person per day. That is equivalent to 6 pounds per person per week. How much does your garbage weigh?
