The highlight of my visit with my nieces in 2007 was going with them on their weekly library trip. Our phone calls almost always include a description of the latest book they've read.
A Japanese friend a few weeks ago was surprised to learn I cannot read books in Japanese.
The JW at my door the other week was surprised to learn that although I was speaking with him in Japanese, I cannot read the brochures he leaves.
Speaking Japanese and reading Japanese are two completely different things.
But this...
... helping my young cousin with his reading homework... this is on my Japanese reading level! He will no doubt soon surpass my Japanese reading level!
