Meeting of the cultures

We came from most corners of the globe: South America, North Africa, East Africa, South Africa, Australia, Japan, Eastern Europe, Western Europe

Some had been back 5 days, some 6 months.

Some plan to only be in the States for 3 months, some for a year or longer.

Some first went to the field four years ago, some more than 30 years ago.

Single. Married. Married with children. Married with grandchildren.

Returning to the field in a matter of weeks. Not sure when or if they’re returning.

Returning to the same ministry. Transitioning to a different ministry.

Some are living out of their van, a different city every few days. Some are living out of their suitcases, a different region every six weeks. Some have rented a house to settle down for a year. None of us are living with our own stuff, rather with someone else’s sheets, towels, dishes, furniture.

We spent three days sharing our hearts and our stories, praising the One who sent us out and the One who keeps us, looking to Him for help in the transition (re-entry) and for lasting results from our lives and work.

It was good to be together.
