We heavily rely on blackout curtains in our children's bedrooms.
To the extent that we have an extra pair to hang on our bedroom windows when we have overnight guests and one of our children needs to sleep on our floor.
Sometime this summer I hung the extra pair on our windows, and never took them down. We actually enjoyed a darker room, and they no doubt kept our room cooler (2-story houses need two A/C units, but that's a rant for another day).
Yesterday morning I noticed that the sun was back in the same position it was when I wrote this post. Interesting that one was right around the first day of spring, and now it's near the first day of fall.
With shorter days, I need all the light I can get to make it through the long winter of dark days. So, on my list yesterday was to take down the room-darkening curtains and replace them with the valances that match our bedding.
What a difference light makes!
