Fall

An international friend who is looking forward to carving her first jack-o-lantern was confused as to why people have uncarved pumpkins sitting on their porch or front stoop.

"Because it's fall," I explained.

I was in the pumpkin capital the other day, and noticed the tractor-trailers loaded with pumpkins waiting outside the Libby canning facility.

Everywhere I drive these days, I see combines in fields or traveling down the road (blocking the road) going to fields, and I see grain carts laden with corn or soybeans being pulled down Main Street to the elevator.

Taking advantage of the nice weather, I had the window open this evening and heard my first loud HONKs of the season.  A large flock of Canadian geese flew over, quite noisily.

It's fall!
