I requested vegetarian in-flight meals to avoid food allergies.
My meal did not contain much idenitifable food ... but at least it was not the salad my seatmate had ... the salad in which I could identify five fat shrimp which would have contaminated all my vegetables.
A side benefit of flying vegetarian is being served first, which ensures that a slow eater has enough time to finish her meal (hypothetically speaking).
Another benefit is healthier food, i.e. a wholegrain roll vs. my seatmate's white roll.
