念願 - ねんがん - nengan - one's heart's desire; one's dearest wish; one's long-cherished desire [wish]When I brought out the Bibles for the Japanese Bible study after English class, one lady explained that she didn't need one. And then she showed me her brand-new Bible. Searching for the words to tell me in English, she taught me a new word in Japanese - nengan.
We finally decided that she could best say her sentence in English this way:
I had wanted a Bible for a long time, and now I finally have one!
