Last Sunday afternoon was a periodic family prayer time with Jim's side. I can't remember the last time we met. It started out as a quarterly gathering several years back, but has become less frequent. And four of the eight nearby members of the older generation are already in heaven. What joy for them!
17 of us squeezed into Jim's cousin's living & dining room: Jim's 95 year old dad & his wife, Jim's 92 year old uncle (from the nursing home), four of Jim's cousins (& 3 spouses), two of Jim's siblings, us four, and a cousin's daughter.
We sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness," a cousin read from Psalms, about our being poor and needy (perhaps Psalm 86), and then we prayed.
What a treasure to sit in a circle praying with 95 & 92 year olds! How precious to hear an older person say, "You're all we have, God." What a privilege to go before the throne with family members, praying for those near and far who had sent in requests. What an awesome thing to pray for the 80 & 90 year olds who are nearing heaven, and to pray for their journey these next how many ever years the Lord gives them on earth.
Waiting expectantly to see how the Lord answers all our many requests.
