Good Day

1 day off
10 trains
9 hours
1 friend
2 bookstores:

  • Good Day Books (used English bookstore)
1 bag of books traded
4 used books acquired
  • the Christian bookstore
a devotional
a promise book for a hurting friend

4 free exhibits:
  • wilderness etchings by George Raab at the Canadian Embassy

  • photographic journey over Luxembourg by hot-air balloon at the Embassy of Luxembourg

  • portraits of the people of Myanmar at the Kodak Photo Salon
  • "Dolls: From Kokeshi to Matryoshka" at the Tokyo International Forum (Did you know that Russian nesting dolls are said to have been inspired by the Japanese wooden souvenir dolls which were carried to Russia by a Russian Orthodox priest?)
I highly recommend getting out of Dodge on one's day off as an effective way of dodging work-related phone calls and e-mails that come unbidden.
