This afternoon I went to the roadside station (rest area / park / visitors' center) in the middle of the village again, and sat in the gazebo, reading and writing, journaling and processing (and also talking with two young ladies on vacation from Hong Kong). After fortifying myself with a bite to eat from one of the food vendors, I set out toward the mountains.
My camera, Ligon Duncan & company, and I walked west from town for about an hour, walking across the river (one of the cleanest in Japan),
taking in all the beautiful rural scenery, gazing longingly at the mountains in the distance,
and being comforted by the familiarity of the farms on either side of the road.
After an hour, we turned around, and came back a slightly different path through the park that goes along the river.
